What is required to get a library card?

Fall River County residents and residents within the Hot Springs School District need to present a picture i.d. and proof of current physical address (ex: utility bill, checkbook, mail). Children 6 – 17 years of age need to have a parent or guardian present when applying for a card. If you live outside Hot Springs city limits, the fee for a card is $10 per individual and $20 per family.

How many movies can I check out?

There is a limit of 4 movies.

How long can I keep an item?

Movie checkout is 7 days. Book checkout is 3 weeks unless it is marked as a 7 day loan. Magazine checkout is 7 days. Audio book checkout is 3 weeks.

Can I renew items over the phone?

The 1st renew request can be done over the phone. Items may be renewed a 2nd time, but must be brought to the Library, and then only if the item is not on hold or reserve for another patron. DVDs do not renew.

If the Library does not have an item I want, can it be borrowed from another library?

Yes. An Interlibrary Loan Request form must be completed to request an item. There is a $3.00 return shipping charge for each item, paid when you pick up the item.

Is there a quiet place where I can study?

We do have a Study Room available on a first come, first serve basis. Inquire at the front desk for availability.

Does the Library have a meeting room?

Yes. Usage requirements are that the meeting be free and open to the public, the meeting is to be held during Library hours, and the meeting room is to be cleaned up.

What is the cost to print items?

The cost is 25 cents per page for black & white printing and 50 cents per page for color printing from a computer. The copy machine fee is the same.

Do you take book donations?

Yes we take donations, but we do not to take encyclopedias, magazines, Reader’s Digest condensed books, Harlequin romance books, and textbooks.

Can I reserve an item?

Yes, with the exception of DVDs.

How do I get a SD Library card?

You will need to apply at the State Library site.
